George E. Berry, age 68, of the Holiday City section of Berkeley Township died on Friday, January 6 at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, Englewood. Born in Phoenix City, Alabama, Mr. Berry lived there and in Jersey City and Plainfield before settling in Holiday City.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1967 until 1987. He later worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Plainfield, Piscataway and finally in Lakehurst. He was also a Jehovah Witness, affiliated with the Kingdom Hall in South Toms River for thirty years.
He is survived by his wife, Veilo; his children, Tonya Gaston and her husband Milo of San Diego, George Berry Jr. and his wife Tammy of Atlanta, GA, Edward Berry and his wife Bonnie of Browns Mills, NJ, and Sonia Berry of Burlington, NJ; a brother, Roy Berry of Orange, NJ, and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Saturday, January 14 from 2-5pm at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. Cremation will be private.
