Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in Rush Lake Cemetery. The Family will greet friends from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name. Keith Michael Truog, son of Olga Mardell (Darr) and Wayne Frederich Truog was born October 26, 1956 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He was a 1975 graduate of Mallard High School. On March 20, 1976, Keith was united in marriage to Vicki Ann Lowman in Emmetsburg, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm before moving to Laurens in 1995, Fonda in 2003 and Pocahontas in 2008. Keith farmed for 19 years before beginning a career in law enforcement. He was a police reserve in the early 1990's, and he became a city cop in Laurens in 1995, He graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Johnston, IA in March of 1996. In 2000, Keith became a Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officer with the Iowa Department of Transportation. He also served as Assistant Chief of Police in Fonda from August of 2000 until his time of death. ng up on the farm and doing anything outdoors. He enjoyed fixing cars, four-wheeling, motorcycle rides and camping. He was an avid sports fan when following his grandchildren, gun collector and car enthusiast. More than anything, Keith loved to be with his family, especially his grandchildren. On January 15, 2017, Keith passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital surrounded by his family. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki of Pocahontas; parents: Wayne and Mardell Truog of Mallard : maternal grandmother, Ellen (Rouse) Darr of Anoka, MN; three children: Nytasha Truog of Emmetsburg, Jeremy Truog of Pocahontas and Jamie Truog of Marshall,MN; two sisters: Ruth Wynn (Rick) of Little Elm, TX and Becky Goeders of Mallard; 10 grandchildren: Trey, Caleb, and Paige Truog, Jordan and Hailey Foxhoven, Macy and Zoey Higgins, Bentley Juchem and Nevin and Lyla Bailey. Keith was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Ruth Leone (Draman) Truog; and his grandfathers: Clelland Darr and Fred Truog.
