Dennis Lee Clune, Sr., 71 of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away on October 24, 2011 after a long illness. Born April 30th, 1940 in Long Island, NY, he moved to Port Charlotte in 1987. He was the owner of Clunes Auto Body for the past 23 years. He started the first Copiague Kiwanis Club in Long Island, NY. He held many offices in The Sons of the American Legion over the years including Squadron Commander at Post 110 for many years as well as 2 time Past Detachment Commander for the State of Florida. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Diana, his brother John Clune of Port Charlotte, Florida and sister Pat Glenz of Morristown, NJ.; Children, Donna Chironno of Long Island, NY, Denise Mause of Port Charlotte, Fl., Debra Anderson of Arcadia, Fl., Diana Heinlein of Port Charlotte, Fl., Dennis Clune, Jr., of North Port, Fl., and David Clune of North Port, Fl. He has 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 29th from 11:00 - 2:00 at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Boulevard, Port Charlotte, Fl., 33952. A chapel service will follow at 2:00 PM.
