Herbert Hoover Balmer

Herbert H. Balmer, 83, of Punta Gorda, FL passed away October 3, 2011. He was born July 25, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to James and Mary Balmer. He retired in 1985 as a Sales Executive for the Verizon Phone Company, then known as the New York Telephone Company. He and his wife moved to the Florida Keys were they resided for 23 years before moving to Punta Gorda three years ago. Herb was a member and the former President of the Telephone Pioneers, he was active in various social clubs and enjoyed playing cards, Poker being his game of choice. Herb was an avid NY Jets and Mets fan, had a wonderful sense of humor and was a real jokester. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Balmer of Punta Gorda, FL; children, Diane E. Lipman of Manorville, NY; Mary Foss of Punta Gorda, FL and Herbert F. Balmer of Mastic Beach, NY; grandchildren, Herbie, Samantha, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Pary and Claira. He was predeceased by his parents and his six siblings.
