ho was in her early 90s until Julie and her husband moved to their retirement home that they had built a decade or so earlier in Punta Gorda in October of 2003. While Julie along with her husband was heavily involved in volunteering for their local church St. Anthony in Ocenaside, they continued their volunteer work at their new church down here, St. Charles Borromeo, Pt. Charlotte as Eucharistic Ministers, bringing Communion to the homebound and in later years to the 'Harbor Health', Port Charlotte Residents as well as to the people in their Rehab facilities. Working with the Elderly there, brought not only joy to their Catholic Residents, but to Julie as well. She simply loved bringing joy to these people and they loved her very much. While she still kept doing her volunteer job at that facility for many more months during the time of her cancer treatments, she eventually had to give it up, as she didn't have the necessary strength anymore and was mostly confined to her bed and wheelchair. After several stays in Hospitals and private Assisted Living Home during the last 4 months of her life, God finally relieved her from her pain and suffering and called her into His Kingdom on Saturday night. Julie was a devoted Catholic throughout her life, loved and respected by many friends in the area, especially friends at the Church, who she was extremely fond of. Julie is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Win Hoeffken, as well as a number of cousins, nieces and nephews in Germany. Visitations will be held Thursday, Feb. 9, from 1pm to 3pm and 5pm to 8pm at Kays-Ponger and Uselton Funeral Home, 2405 Harbor Blvd Pt. Charlotte, FL 33952. A Funeral Mass will held on Friday, Feb. 10 at 12pm at St. Charles Barromeo, 2500 Easy St, Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
