Donald Eugene Wagler, Sr.

Donald Eugene Wagler, Sr., 82, Fairfield, died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Henry County Health Center. He was born July 21, 1934 in Burlington, the son of Arthur E. and Marcelle Adaline Walker Wagler. On September 20, 1952, he married Betty Lorraine Wood in Burlington. He attended Hunters Country School at Burlington and Danville Schools. Mr. Wagler was a truck driver, working at Farm Service, Oberman Trucking, Middletown Mills, numerous freight companies including Churchill, Benner Tea and McAllister Seed. He was a union member of Teamsters 218. He raised horses and cows and enjoyed working on the farm. He always had to be busy but enjoyed relaxing at the Wagler Campout every September. He loved Westerns and sitting with the love of his life. Mr. Wagler is survived by his wife, Betty; four sons, Donald E. Jr. (Carol) of New London, Dennis (Brenda) of Rolla, MO., Rob (April) of Mt. and one brother, Mark (Pam), Ft. Madison. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons; Rusty and Randy; and a brother, Tony Wagler. A Celebration of Life for Donald Wagler will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Elliott Chapel with Mr. Ted Horn officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00. Burial will be in North Walker Cemetery, rural Burlington. A memorial has been established.
