Gilbert "Gil" Curry, Jr., 78, of Vero Beach, formerly of Cooper City, Florida passed away February 12, 2017, in Vero Beach. He was born August 15, 1938, in Wilmington, North Carolina, the son of Gilbert and Tina Maye (Carter) Curry. He served in the U.S. Army.
Gil moved to South Florida in 1970, where he worked as an Inspector for the Broward County Building Code Services. He was a past member of American Legion Post 321, Cooper City. Gil was also an avid golfer at the Cooper City Country Club.
Gil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancy Lee (Hartmann) Curry of Vero Beach; son, Gilbert Curry, III (Renee) of Palm City; daughter, Deborah Michele Carr (Mark) of Auburndale; grandchildren, Heather, Heidi, Perry, Danielle, Savannah and Samantha; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Sidney Curry of Utah, John Curry of North Carolina; and sisters, Tina Curry of Georgia and Julia Campbell of Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jackie and Ervil.
