Beverly Kain, age 79 of Prairie City, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Nelson Manor in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Prairie City Church of the Brethren. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2017, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Prairie City Fire and Rescue or the Prairie City Church of the Brethren. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com The daughter of John and Wilma (Visser) Trager, Bev was born on March 9, 1937, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1955. On October 13, 1955, she was united in marriage to Max Leon Kain in Prairie City. Bev worked as a cook at the Prairie City School for many years. She was the Secretary/Treasurer for the Pleasant Hill Community Club for several years. She was a member of the Monroe American Legion Women's Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Max; children, John (Lora) Kain and Joan (Mike) Stein both of Prairie City; five grandchildren, Lucas and Kelsey Kain; Lindsey Kain; Jake and Jordan Stein; a great grandson, Liam Kain; a sister, Pam (Terry) Harvey of Knoxville; and a sister-in-law, Sandra (Larry) Harsin of Estherville, Iowa. Preceding Bev in death were her parents, a son Jim Kain in 1999, and in-laws, Hollis and Dorothy Kain and Jean Kain.
