Lynn Frank, 91, Oakland, IA, passed away at the Oakland Manor on February 22, 2017. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Box 6400 Johnston, IA 50131-6400 Lynn Dean Frank was born on March 17, 1925 on the family farm near Oakland, Iowa, the son of Herbert Windlock and Mona Lillian (VanEtten) Frank. He lived in Carson, Iowa from the time he was 3 years old until age 22. He graduated from the Carson High School in 1943. Lynn farmed all his adult life and was very proud when his family farm became a Century Farm in 1983. Lynn also drove a school bus for 42 years. On February 25, 1969, twenty students and him, the bus driver, escaped injury when the bridge over Graybill Creek collapsed as the bus was crossing. the Carson Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed driving the school bus for Carson, Macedonia, then Riverside School District and greeting all his student passengers. Lynn was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and a good friend to all who knew him. Lynn and Lula were married 67 years when Lula passed away on May 23, 2014. Lynn passed away at the Oakland Manor on February 22, 2017, at the age of 91 years, 11 months, and 5 days. In addition to his beloved wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Oscar and Goldie (Hough) Nielson; brother-in-law Willard Nielson; and sister-in-law Luella Morse. Lynn is survived by his son Richard Frank and wife Beth of Carson; granddaughter Sarah Waterman and husband Toby of Treynor, IA; two great grandchildren, Delaney and Nolan; brother-in-law Robert Morse of Bellevue, NE; and many friends.
