Charlene E. "Cheri" Kingsley 79, of Bernard, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at her home in Bernard, Iowa. A celebration of Cheri's life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, March 18, 2017, at the New Hope Presbyterian Church at 4209 Locust Street, in Davenport, Iowa. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral beginning at 10 A.M. Cremation rites have been accorded. Charlene Elizabeth Newsom was born on August 30, 1937 in Gilmer, Texas, to William A. and Govie E. (Harrison) Newsom. She was a 1956 graduate of the Blytheville High School in Blytheville, Arkansas. She later attended business school in Blytheville, Arkansas. She married Daniel D. Kingsley on February 24, 1967 in Blytheville, Arkansas. Cheri had worked as a sales associate/model, a social worker, a cashier at a car dealership, and most of her career was as a Sales and Donation Administrator at the Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, Illinois. Cheri enjoyed fishing, playing slot machines, and visiting with friends and relatives.
