Doris Elaine Wilson Cresap, 94, of Des Moines, formerly of Danville, died Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. She was born Southwest of Danville on September 6, 1922, to Frank Stoner and Mary Elizabeth Gill Wilson. On March 4, 1950, she married Elbert D. Cresap at her parent's home in Danville. He died March 17, 2005. She was a 1940 graduate of Danville High School and graduated from Burlington Beauty Academy in 1946. Prior to her marriage, she owned and operated Dan-D Beaute Shoppe. Mrs. Cresap was an amazing homemaker who was always taking care of others and often was considered a surrogate mother to many by providing support, care and an open ear. Mrs. Cresap was a member of Danville United Methodist Church, Women's Circle, PTA, Danville garden club, and was president of Music Boosters. Her family was the most important thing to her taking special pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. chael Plummer, John Crotty, Anne Crotty, Tucker Coselman and Abby Coselman; two great-granddaughters; Annabelle Elaine and Josephine Rebecca Plummer, one brother Kenneth Wilson of Burlington, and serveral nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Dwight Wilson and one sister, Virginia Bice. Visitation for Mrs. Doris Cresap will begin at noon Thursday at Elliott Chapel, New London, with the family present to greet friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Kathleen Moore officiating. Private family burial will be held in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at Wesley Acres, Des Moines. Memorials have been established for Danville United Methodist Church and Wesley Acres Good Samaritan Fund.
