Sheli Ann Staley Murphy, 49, of Fremont, formerly of New London, died Monday, March 13, 2017 at her home. Born July 5, 1967 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Frank and Joyce Ann Westerbeck Staley. She married James Murphy in New London; they later divorced.
She was a 1986 graduate of New London High School. She was of the Christian faith. Like her mother, Sheli was a wonderful cook and also enjoyed arts & crafts, painting, gardening, traveling, tattoos, and rock and roll music; especially Bob Marley. She very much loved and was proud of her family. Sheli had a great love for her late brother, Steve Staley.
She is survived by her father of New London; one daughter, Abbey Murphy of Mt. Pleasant; one son, Bailey Murphy of Grinnell; one granddaughter, Lydia Murphy; one niece, one nephew, two great-nieces; and her boyfriend, Lee Haynes of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Steve Staley.
A Celebration of Life for Sheli Staley Murphy will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 18 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Reverend David Mixon will officiate. According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded. A memorial has been established to help defr...[more]
