Patricia "Patty" Elaine Powell

Patricia "Patty" Elaine Powell Patty Powell, 66, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017, in Indianapolis IN. She was born in Chicago, IL, on Aug 24, 1950, the daughter of beloved parents Ernie and Nelda Swanson (both deceased), but was raised from age two in Elmhurst, IL. Patty worked many summers at her parents' fishing camp, Big Canon Lake Lodge, in Ontario, Canada. She is survived by her sons Courtney Galyan of Indianapolis; and J.D. Powell of St. Louis, MO; and her brother Bob Swanson and his wife Mary of Denver, CO. Patty was once married to Pat Galyan of Indianapolis and Dave Powell of Indianapolis. Patty became a grandmother on March 7 with the birth of Colette Mable Galyan, born to Courtney and Molly (McMahon) Galyan. She had the chance to welcome Colette into the world when she briefly held her in her arms in the hospital a week before she died. Patty literally "lit up a room" with her warm smile, great laugh and magnetic personality. She drew people to her, especially in Danville, IN, where she raised her sons.
