Mr. Jack A. Wills, 84, of rural West Burlington died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Great River Medical Center. Born July 9, 1932 in Burlington, he was the son of Art and Lucille (Nelson) Wills. On June 8, 1952 he married Joanne B. Culp at Oak Street Baptist Church. Mr. Wills was a 1950 graduate of Burlington High School and attended Burlington Junior College. He was a Korean Army veteran stationed in Livorno, Italy. He then went into an apprenticeship program at Carl A. Nelson Co. where he went on to become a superintendent for 40 ½ years, retiring in 1998. He attended St. Luke United Church of Christ and was a past member of the Elks, and a current member of American Legion Post 52. He enjoyed golf, handball, hunting, and fishing. He was very active in the YMCA for 24 years and also officiated sporting events. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joanne Wills of rural West Burlington; four daughters, Mindy Crowell of Tampa, Florida, Rhonda Myers of Ozark, Alabama, Brenda (Gary) Lee of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Lori Wills of Chesapeake, Virginia; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. ne sister Delores Thornton, great granddaughter Mylie Brockett, and one nephew David Morris. A private family service was held for Mr. Wills. According to his wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, April 6th, at Big Muddys, 710 N. Front St., Burlington. All friends and family are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for St. Luke United Church of Christ.
