Robert J. Morrison

Robert J. Morrison, 75 of Kingston New York and Zephyrhills, Florida passed away peacefully at his home in Kingston on Tuesday, May 10th with his family by his side following a battle with cancer. Born September 8, 1940 in Sharon, Connecticut he was raised in Clinton Hollow New York and resided for most of his adult life in both Clinton Hollow and Hyde Park New York. Known to most people as "Bob", he is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce (Devine) Morrison, four children, 11 grandchildren, and many other beloved relations and friends. Surviving are son's Thomas (Joyce Brandt) Morrison, Michael (Angelas Onis) Morrison, and John (Christine) Morrison, all residing in Ulster County New York and daughter Dr. Linda Morrison of Kennebunk Maine. Bob's legacy is his family, and he was adored by grandchildren Christopher (Hyde Park), Nikkilyn (Chicago), Ryan (Saugerties), Brendan and Kayla (New Paltz), Aidan and Katie (Kingston), Elizabeth and Erin (Kennebunk), and step-grandchildren Sergio and Carla Nazaire (New Paltz). and in his early years he was a dairy farmer and a DHIA milk tester. Starting in 1967, Bob worked in various roles for the Dutchess County Department of Public Works starting as a laborer and retiring in 1996 as a superintendent. A member of the Clinton Corners Lions Club, Bob also enjoyed being a little league coach, a Boy Scout leader, and a 4-H supporter. Bob served as an elder then clerk of session at the First Presbyterian Church, Salt Point. In his retirement, Bob's life was enriched by many close friends he met in the community of Zephyrhills Florida, where he enjoyed his winters and was an avid horseshoe thrower. He was always welcoming to his grandchildren at his winter home in Zephyrhills so they could benefit from the many attractions of Florida, but he was equally happy when they came back north so he could get some peace and quiet. Always ready for a Yahtzee or card game with his grandchildren, or teaching someone to fish, whistle, or play horseshoes, his good humor and generous spirit will be sorely missed. Family will receive friends beginning at 10 am and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, May 14th at Keyser Funeral Home on Albany Avenue in Kingston.
