Vincent Ferrer Loughlin

Vincent Ferrer Loughlin, 57, of Ulster Park went to his eternal reward on the 3rd of May 2013 following a determined battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife Patricia Loughlin nee Morrison, the love of his life, and three devoted children who were his pride and joy, Elizabeth, Eugene and Emily. Vinnie was the first-born son of Lillian and the late Eugene Loughlin of Esopus. His eleven brothers and sisters mourn his loss, Eugene Jr. aka Tuffy (Cynthia), Thomas (Vicky), Patrick (Ellen), Matthew (Erin), Dr. Mary Cruser (Dan), John (Mary Jo), Laura Murphy (Terence), Francis, Peter, Paul and Leo (Julie), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Born in Kingston on April 6, 1956, he relocated to the Town of Esopus in 1965 with the rest of the ever-increasing Loughlin family. Vinnie spent the rest of his life in Esopus save periods of military service. After he and Patti married, they made their home in Ulster Park. Vinnie began his career as a certified social worker at the Mother Cabrini Home in West Park, and served for 29 years with the Kingston Consolidated School District, most recently at the Bailey and Miller Middle Schools. His intimidating exterior belied a generous heart and gentle disposition. Vinnie proudly served his country in the New York State Army National Guard's 156th Field Artillery, and 10th Mountain Division, retiring with the rank of Sergeant after 20-plus years of service. His duties included extended service in NYC in the aftermath of 9/11. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 275. An avid horse racing fan, Vinnie was renowned for deriving uncommon pleasure from modest investments and returns. He rooted against the Yankees with great passion. He was a life-long student of World War II history and aficionado of bean soup. Most of all, Vinnie was a man of tremendous faith and humility, and his wife and children were paramount in his life. Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen, where friends may call on Sunday, the 5th of May 2013 from 3 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Monday, the 6th of May 2013 at Sacred Heart Church, Esopus, Rev. Eugene Grohe, C.Ss.R., officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Rosendale. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him including the students he worked with over the course of his career.
