Abbie Duysen, 84, Bellevue, NE, formerly of Henderson, IA, passed away April 27, 2017 at the Hillcrest Health & Rehab in Bellevue. MEMORIAL SERVICE - 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 20, 2017 at the Loess Hills Funeral Home in Carson, IA. Memorials are directed to the family Abbie Elaine Duysen, born November 8th, 1932 in Shenandoah, Iowa. Abbie was the youngest of three children born to Edward and Marie (Hankins) Stenger. She graduated from Henderson (Iowa) High School in 1951. Abbie also met her life-long mate Jerry at Henderson. Abbie and Gerald (Jerry) Paul Duysen were united in marriage on September 27, 1952 in San Diego, California as Jerry served in the United States Navy. Following his discharge, the couple returned to Iowa and made their home on a farm near Henderson. They were blessed with five children, Shirley, Paul, Joe, Jack and James. Abbie and Jerry moved to Omaha in 1979 where she worked at Methodist Hospital in the Admitting Department until retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Marie Stenger of Essex IA; and siblings; Keith Stenger of Tucson AZ, and Jim Stenger of Springfield MO. Abbie is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Jerry Duysen of Omaha, NE; daughter, Shirley Pierce and husband Dan of Columbia, MO; sons, Paul Duysen and wife Sharon of Papillion, Joe Duysen of Treynor, IA, Jack Duysen and wife Ellen of Omaha, NE, and James Duysen and wife Kala of Villisca, IA; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
