John E. Custer

John E. Custer, 85 of Fort Lauderdale, passed away April 29, 2017. He was born in Richmond, Indiana the son of Harry and Helen Scott Custer. John was an Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale. In 1960, John founded, Roof Structures Inc. and retired in 1985. John loved to mentor younger business friends in the construction industry. He served as a longtime director of C.A.S.F. Surviving are his wife, Fran LaRosa Custer; three children, Carl S. Custer, Catherine Custer and Michael (Tara) Custer; his nieces and nephews, Sara Whitney Smith, Gina Smith Kelly, Chris Kelly and Ron Smith. John loved his family, his friends and boating in the Abacos. In lieu of flowers donations should be sent in his honor to Moffit Cancer Center Foundation, In memory of John E.
