Ron S. Westcott, age 79, of Amherst, passed away unexpectedly after an extensive surgery, on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at University Hospital, Cleveland.
He was born on October 7, 1937 in Wakeman, living most of his life in the Amherst area. Ron, very proudly, served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany where he was a military policeman. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Ron went to work for the railroad as a clerk. His career began with ConRail and CSX. He dedicated 36 years of employment with the railroad, finally retiring in 1999. Ron enjoyed so many things in life, and always with his wife by his side. They were members of the Antique Automobile Club of America, and they were campers for many years. He loved nature and going for hikes and fishing. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Marilee (nee Scott), his son, Brent, of Fairview Park, his daughter, Melissa (Scott) MIleti, of Middleburg Heights, his first wife, Maureen (Bill) Fletcher, his sister, Ellie, and his nieces and nephews. Ron will be dearly missed by his beloved 6 cats and 3 dogs.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen (nee Nemeth) Beregszazy, his step-father, Art Beregszazy, and his father, Harold Westcott.
The family will receive friends for a celebration of Ron's life, on Thursday, April 13, at 10:00 am, at Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, OH 44001. Military honors will be provided by the Amherst Honor Guard following the gathering, at 11:00am.
Because of his deep love of animals, the family encourages that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to any shelter, charity, or organization that assists animals in need.
