Lillian Elizabeth Redding, age 85, died Friday, May 5, 2017 at Brookdale Middleton Stonefield, after having a particularly good day.  She was born October 17, 1931 in New York, NY, to William and Anna Marie (née Herald) Weber.  On September 9, 1953, she married Francis Raymond (Babe) Redding.

Lillian was an artistic woman with a deep passion for flowers and gardening.  Her Orchard Ridge home of 55 years was built around her beautiful rock gardens and her unique flower arrangements won her many awards.  She enjoyed music, making art, baking, supported the theatre and loved to throw parties and dance.   She also worked tirelessly for the First Unitarian Society of Madison and was a founding, active member.

Lillian completed a B.A.-Economics and a M.A.-Public Administration at the UW-Madison.  She was a valued employee of the State of Wisconsin Department of Health, working as a planning analyst.  She was lured out of retirement three times by the State to continue her work.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Redding; and son, Ken Redding.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all of Lillian’s personal caregivers, plus those at Brookdale for their kind and caring help.

A visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road.  A Celebration of Life Service will continue on Thursday afternoon, May 11, at 4:30 p.m., with family present to greet at 4 p.m.,at FIRST UNITARIAN SOCIETY, 900 University Bay Dr., Madison, WI with Rev. Dr. Michael Schuler officiating. A light reception will follow the service in the Hearth Room.  Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the First Unitarian Society of Madison.
