Janelle Marie Schwaninger was born a minute after midnight on August 20, 1977 at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska. Her parents are Phyllis (Poague) and Roger Schwaninger. Janelle was 2 years old when the family moved to 203 West Florence in Glenwood, Iowa in August, 1979. She attended a special pre-school in a little green house and Rhonda Lothrop was her teacher. Janelle began her elementary school years at Northeast Elementary, then on to Middle School and then High School. She graduated in May 1998. She loved all her special friends in her classes with Linda LaRue as her teacher.

Janelle moved to Council Bluffs in the Fall of 1998 with REM Iowa and later to an apartment with two roommates and staff. She enjoyed going out to eat, movies, bowling and being a helper at Buddy Baseball. Janelle loved to read and play her card games. She looked forward to coming home to see her family for visits and attending church with Mom and Dad. Her roommates and the staff at her apartment and REM and VODEC were very special to her. She was crowned Queen of a Valentine Dance at a Special Friends dance one year.

y her sisters and her nieces and nephews. She remembered everyone?'s birthdays with a card and a note. She always wanted to give them a gift at Christmas to show them her love. Janelle had a beautiful smile for everyone.

Janelle left this life for a much better one in Heaven on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 in Council Bluffs at the age of 39 years, 7 months and 1 day. Mourning her passing are her parents, Roger and Phyllis Schwaninger of Glenwood, Iowa, sister: Bonnie (Dan) Lieberth of Chandler, Arizona, Jennifer (James) Chambers of Clarinda, Iowa and Angela (Jason) Chambers of Clarinda, Iowa. Nieces: Madeline Chambers, Hannah Lieberth and Anna Chambers. Nephews: Trevor Lieberth, Tyler Lieberth, Dillon Chambers, Alex Chambers, Jacob Chambers and Keegan Chambers. Great nieces, Isabella Lieberth, Leia and Lana Becker; aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends.

Interment will be held in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood, Iowa.

Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist or to the family.
