VERONA - Lorraine J. Crownhart, age 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Noel Manor, Verona. Lorraine was born in the Township of Kinnickinnic on December 4, 1924 to Melvin and Emma (Johnson) Peterson. She grew up just outside of River Falls, WI. Lorraine married the love of her life, Donald J. Crownhart, on June 6, 1944 at the Ezekiel Lutheran Church in River Falls, WI. In 1956 they moved to Verona where Donald became the superintendent of Public Works Department in Verona while Lorraine went to work at the Department of Veterans Affairs for the State of Wisconsin. She retired after 30+ years of service. Lorraine was a Red Hat Lady. She enjoyed quilting and RVing with her husband in the Bell Ringers Club.
Lorraine is survived by her children, Marie (Eugene) Klar of Stoughton, Thomas (Sherry) of Monroe, and Larry of Bend, OR; grandchildren, Chris (Stephanie) Klar of Three Lakes, Robin (Dale) Suslick of Sanibel, FL, Josie (Rome) Wieser of New Glarus, Aleta (Jon) Martinson of New Glarus, and Lacy (John) Zimmerman of Holmen; great grandchildren, Natalie, Samantha, Elaina, Caden, Aubrie, and Liam Suslick, Devyn, Caitlin, and Joshua Wieser,...[more]
ser, Jared, Mason, and Emma Martinson; sister, Marlyn Starks of St. Paul, MN. She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Donald; brother, Maynard Peterson of PA; and dear friends, James and Marie Johnson of Verona.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 South Main Street, Verona, with Rev. Kurt Billings presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of service on Saturday at the church. Burial at Verona Cemetery.
