Elizabeth "Libby" Schieffer

Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Schieffer, 89, of Keokuk, passed away at 11:35 AM Sunday, May 21, 2017, at her home. Libby was born June 18, 1927, in Burlington, Iowa, a daughter of William P. and Ruth E. Hopp Knobbs. On August 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert H. Schieffer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Burlington, Iowa. She graduated from St. Paul High School on May 28, 1945 and from Burlington Junior College in 1947. She was trained as a service assistant with Northwestern Bell Telephone and was employed there until 1951. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society, and sang in the Mixed Church Choir. She was also a member of Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary. She played golf with the Ladies of the Elks until she was 86, and enjoyed participating in Kardiac Kapers. survived by a sister, June (Robert) Randolf of Hillsborough, California; twenty-one grandchildren; and thirty-six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10:30 AM Friday, May 26, 2017, at All Saints Catholic Church with Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will follow in Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 PM Thursday at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 1212 Concert Street with family meeting friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. A Christian Vigil Service will be at 7:30 at the funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Keokuk Catholic Schools, Keokuk Community Foundation, Great River Hospice of Burlington, or to the donor's choice.
