George S Robbins

MADISON-George S. Robbins, age 92, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017. He was born on April 18, 1925 in Glen Ellyn, IL to the late Frederick C. Robbins and Amy (Newman) Robbins. A high school graduate of West Division High School in Milwaukee, George went on to receive his Bachelor of Science at UW-Madison. He devoted over 40 years as a chemist at the US Department of Agriculture. George enjoyed travelling, spending time with his family, woodworking, bicycling, and being outdoors. An engineer by training and inclination, George never lost his curiosity and problem-solving focus. George is survived by his children David (Carol), Clyde (Mary), and Nancy Robbins; grandchildren Daniel (Kate), Katherine (Nick), Ariel, Michael (Sara), Andrew (Alison), Elizabeth (Zack), Peter, Tristan, Margaret (Peter), Breanna, Rachel, and Sarah; and great-grandchildren Shawn, Daman, James, Beatrice, Samantha and Isabel. George was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth Nell Robbins. Memorials are appreciated to Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin or Doctors Without Borders.
