Arloa L. Franson, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Coggon, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017. Visitation: 10:00 a.m. until Service time at noon, on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon, Iowa, with a service following visitation, conducted by Rev. Leonard "Doc" Ranson.
Arloa was born on November 24, 1932, daughter of Ivan and Mertle (Strong) Olsen. She graduated from Treynor High School in 1950, and then went on to get her Master's degree from UNI. Arloa taught elementary school for 44 years, which 39 of those years she taught kindergarten at Central City School District and received the Golden Apple Award for her accomplishments. Her teaching impacted many in the local community and when hearing about or meeting someone, she would often comment, "I taught him/her in school."
Arloa was involved in 4-H AMVETS, American Legion, Frozen Few Snow Mobile Club, Red Hatters, D.C. Club and was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church where she was involve...[more]

ith choir, quilting, women's bible study and took great joy working with the kids with bible school. She married Paul L. Everett in 1953, which preceded her in death in 1969. In 1972, Arloa remarried Kenneth C. Fanson, who passed away in 2014. Arloa loved working in her flower garden, feeding the birds, playing the piano, cooking, playing cards, sewing, camping in the 5th wheel RV, going to Alaska with friends and there was no better joy in watching her reeling in the "big one" when fishing.
Survivors with loving memories of her are her children, Joel (Diane) Everett, Cynthia Everett; step-children, Chris Franson, Diane Franson and John (Tina) Franson; grandchildren, LaToya, DaVina, Justin (Erica), Laura (Frank), Jenna(Drew), Chad and Jessica; and great-grandchildren, Akira, Pharoh, Dawson, Isabel and Katherine.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
We will all miss her love and caring that she showed to all she knew.
A memorial has been established in Arloa's memory.
