John Henry Damschroder passed away May 30, 2017. He fought a battle without complaint with prostate cancer complicated by achalasia. He was born in 1939 in Rochester, NY, the son of Rudy and Dorothy (Eaton) Damschroder. The family moved to Hilton, NY and settled on an apple farm. John graduated from Hilton High School then from Hiram College, Ohio as did his father and grandfather before him. He worked at Kodak Park in Rochester as a chemist.

Born too late to be a Mountain Man, he was most content fishing a lake, hunting in the woods, or trapping a creek than he was in a crowd of people. He enjoyed hunting Dall sheep in Alaska's Brook's Range with his dad, fishing for bass in the Thousand Islands where he kept his favorite Lyman boat.
He played baritone horn with the Rochester Crusader's Senior Drum Corp for 15 years and was with them when they won the national championship in 1965.

ohn continued to work for Kodak, retiring after 31 years. He enjoyed a good beer, cruising and camping with his wife, ice hockey games, hunting and fishing stories with his buddies, and volunteering with the Colorado Division of Wildlife. He was the family protector, cherished his wife, loved his sons and their wives and was amazed by his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Ceil of nearly 45 years, two sons, Lee and wife Charity Damschroder of Centennial, and James and wife Alissa of Denver, grandchildren Violet, Max and Jack. Sister, Diana Damschroder of Richmond, Virginia, nephew Chris Patterson of Madison, Wisconsin, niece Jenny Edgerton of Stow, Mass. and Brother-in-law Roger Johnson of Astor, Florida.
The family thanks Pathways Hospice for their care.
