ollowing Ron's military service. Immediately after their wedding, they returned to Phoenix. Two years later they moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. They were true soul mates and did everything together.
Ron was past president of the Fairbanks Vietnam Veterans Association and a member of the Alaska Laborers Local 942 from 1975 to 1995. He enjoyed the outdoors. Ron had a true passion for nature, hunting, and fishing. He also loved antique cars.
Ron and Merillee were married 42 years when Ron passed away on July 5, 2017, at Josie Harper Hospice in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 72 years, 9 months, and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, half-brother Robert Waugh and sister-in-law Helen of Phoenix, Arizona, and sister-in-law Melodye Rohrberg Blackman of McKinney, Texas.
Ron is survived by his wife Merillee Waugh of Glenwood, Iowa; sister Lynn St. Clair and her husband Robert of Richland, Michigan, sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hagerbaumer and husband Kevin of Roca, Nebraska, and Michelle Holmes and husband Jim of Pacific Junction, Iowa; brother-in-law Bruce Blackman of Dallas, Texas, extended relatives; and many friends.
