KEOTA-Kenneth "Jim" "Pops" Murphy, age 85, of Keota, died Sunday, October 18, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.
Kenny was born June 6, 1930, in rural Hills, to Richard and Clara (Kron) Murphy and received his education in country schools. In May of 1950 he married Pauline Kaalberg at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lone Tree. They were later divorced. On April 20, 1991, he married Regina Rugg in rural Keota. Kenneth farmed his whole life, mostly in Washington County. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, going to morning coffee and his dogs Gracie, Missy and Paris.
Survivors include his wife: Regina of Keota; nine children: Dave (Susie) Murphy of Washington, Steve (Carol) Murphy of Estero, Florida, Linda Murphy (Zene Kempf) of Washington, Ang (Jerry) TeBockhorst of Washington, Ronne (Carlene) Murphy of Kalona, Jerry Murphy of Washington, Glori (Ted) Fowler of Cambria, California, Jeff (Kristi) Murphy of Washington and Robert (Angie) Murphy of Wellman; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; three brothers: Pat (Ann) Murphy of Iowa City, Cliff (Mary) Murphy of Iowa City and Leonard (Norma) Murphy of Hills and two ...[more]

Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015, at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with Rev. Charles Fladung officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at the church, where there will be a wake service at 4:00 p.m.
