Edith M Humphrey

MILLERSBURG - Edith Humphrey was born December 15, 1916 in Pilot Township in rural Iowa County, Iowa, the daughter of Gaylord and Dora (Lacy) Williams. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1933. On December 24, 1937 Edith was united in marriage to Marvin Humphrey in Lancaster, Missouri. They lived and farmed in rural Millersburg until 1965. Edith worked as a bookkeeper for Middle America Truck Stop retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Millersburg United Methodist Church where she played the organ for many years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing the organ and piano, traveling, and listening to blue grass music. Edith died on Friday, August 12, 2016 at the English Valley Care Center in North English at the age of 99 years. Edith is survived by her daughter Mary (Willard) Meyer of Pella; 2 grandsons: Kevin (Martha) Meyer of Keswick, Darrin (Melanie) Meyer of Pella, and 3 great grandchildren: Ella, Blake and Katelyn Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin in 2003, a brother Charles Williams and a nephew Larry Williams. Millersburg. Rev. Michelle Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in the Millersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until service time on Monday at the Millersburg United Methodist Church. A memorial fund has been established for Millersburg United Methodist Church and the English Valley Care Center. The Powell Funeral Home in North English is caring for Edith and her family.
