Jerry James Westphal

Millersburg- Jerry J Westphal was born October 18, 1938, in State Center, Iowa the son of James F. & Margarite J. (Gilgen) Westphal. He graduated from State Center High School in 1956 and attended Marshalltown Community College and the University of Iowa. On May 17, 1969, Jerry was united in marriage to Mary Catherine Lacy at St. Joseph Catholic Church, North English. After they married, they lived in the Millersburg area. He was a carpenter, farmer and worked at Kinze Manufacturing. Jerry was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, North English. He enjoyed reading, woodworking, and spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandchildren. Jerry died on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at his home at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his wife Mary of Williamsburg; children: Mark Westphal, Michael Westphal both of Williamsburg, Marie Westphal of Eagle River, Alaska, Monica Westphal of Chicago, Illinois, Martha (James) Bueti of San Francisco, California, Marilyn Westphal and Matt (Mandi) Westphal all of Williamsburg; four grandchildren; and three brothers: Bruce Westphal of Indiana, Dennis Westphal and Tim Westphal both of Marshalltown. Burial will be in the St. Bernard's Cemetery, near Millersburg. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, with a Rosary Service at 7:00 pm at the Powell Funeral Home, North English.
