period of time as bookkeeper at the Gerry Potato Dock, and as bookkeeper at the Onorato Auto Parts store in Milliken. Helen joined the Milliken Presbyterian Church as a child and maintained her membership throughout her life. She sang in the choir and volunteered during her early years. In addition, she was active in the Nimble Thimble Club and Women's Club in Milliken.
Helen was always extremely interested in history and conducted extensive research in family genealogy, Milliken Presbyterian Church history, and the history of the Milliken area. In 2001 Helen and Eddie published the book, "A History of Milliken, Colorado." She was meticulous in her research and stated that she had enough historical documentation and pictures collected that she could easily write another follow-up history book. She enjoyed discussing and sharing her extensive knowledge of the history of the Milliken area including family histories. Helen was an avid reader of historical fiction and non-fiction and was highly talented in sewing and crafts. She enjoyed the challenge of creating crochet patterns and frequently stated that she could "not keep her hands quiet" which resulted in numerous handcrafting projects including sewing, crocheting, knitting, painting and beading. She particularly enjoyed making hand crafted gifts for her family.
