Erie, Colorado resident Dominic John Nelson, age 50, died Friday, June 2, 2017 at Boulder Community Health-Foothills in Boulder.
Dom was born in San Diego, CA on May 20, 1967. His parents are Dwayne Earl and Nancy Ann (Bohlman) Nelson. His early childhood was spent in Owatonna, MN until his family moved to St. Anthony, MN in 1976. He attended St. Anthony High School graduating in 1985 and went on to South Dakota State University where he received his Bachelor's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Dom also received his Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering in May 1999.
Dom was united in marriage to Amy Patricia Hogan on October 14, 1994 at St Olaf Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN. They have three children; Hunter Hogan Nelson, age 17, Megan Ann Nelson, and Molly Elizabeth Nelson, both age 10.
Dom started his career as a Civil Engineer with Carollo Engineers in their Las Vegas office in 1999. In December 2004, the family moved to Erie and Dom transferred to the Carollo offices in Broomfield, CO where he continued his work as a Civil Engineer.

Surviving family members are his wife Amy, their children Hunter, Megan and Molly all of Erie. His parents Dwayne and Nancy Nelson of St. Anthony, MN. He is survived by his sisters; Kristine Carr and her husband Chris of Rockford, MN, and Kimberly Johnson and her husband Chad of Sandstone, MN. His nieces and nephews Emma Carr, Sophie Carr, Ian Carr, Ava Carr, Aubrey Carr, Miloh Carr, Addison Johnson, and Ethan Johnson. Also survived by grandmother Betty (Posthumus) Nelson of Clear Lake, WI, uncle Robert Nelson of St Paul, MN and aunt Cindy (Nelson) St John of Clear Lake, WI.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
