Norman Thompson, 85 Norman went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Sunday, June 25, 2017, 11:00 pm at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital ER of Muncie, Indiana. He was born June 23, 1932, in Monroe, Michigan to the late Bertha and George Jameson. He proudly served his country in the US Army, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in December 1954, having received a Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. After his tour of duty was over, he became General Manager for J C Penney Stores in Lima, Ohio and Muncie, Indiana. He received top sales awards at United Beauty Supply, Local Beauty Supply, and finally Service Beauty Supply from which he retired at the age of sixty-seven. Norm stated, "The best job I ever had was retirement!" He really loved spending weekends and vacations at Lake Tippy in North Webster, Indiana, and after retirement at Chapman Lake in Warsaw, Indiana, boating and fishing for silvers and bass. In later years he enjoyed garage sales and auctions. He had a love for vehicles, from Cushman motor scooters, Corvettes, Cadillacs, trucks, and his Mazda Miata. h for thirty-two years and attended regularly until he became too ill in 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Lila L. Thompson; three daughters, Cathy Ann (Steve L.) Gray, and Sondra Lee Gierhart, both of Vincennes, Indiana, and Pamela S. Townsend, of Muncie, Indiana; one son, Timothy L. Caldwell, of Yorktown, Indiana; one granddaughter, Meredith Ann (Rob) Dreiman, of Vincennes, Indiana; five grandsons, Nicholas Alan Prince, of Madison, Tennessee, Derek E. (Jennifer) Townsend, and Ryan J. (Jessie) Caldwell, both of Muncie, Indiana, and Michael (Crystal) and Matthew Caldwell, of Yorktown, Indiana; fifteen great grandchildren, Keaton Rath, Carson and Jordyn Dreiman, Madison R. Prince, Breanna (Jon), Benjamin, James, Bridgette, Jonathan and Mara Townsend, Garrett and Lucas Caldwell, Branden and Jacob Scott, and Logan Crum; one brother, Bill (Peggy) Jameson, of Live Oak, Texas; four sisters-in-law, Hulda (Charles) Baugh, Barbara Dykes, and Pearlie Hyden, all of Somerset, Kentucky, and Donna Dykes, of Indianapolis, Indiana. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and George Jameson; grandson, Ryan Lee Marsh and granddaughter, Adinah L. Townsend. Family and Friends may call at Elm Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304 on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm, funeral to follow at 2:00 pm with Dr. John Young of Riverside United Methodist Church officiating.
