James Burdette Bartine

James Burdette Bartine, 79 of Stover Missouri passed away on the evening of December 24th, 2015 in McCallsburg, Iowa surrounded by his family. James was born on July 30, 1936 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Donald and Hulda Ralston Bartine. He attended Clemons Community Schools and graduated in 1954. After graduation, he attended William Penn College and Iowa State University. He then enlisted in the United States Army for two years. After his service in the army he continued his passion for farming and ranching in Missouri, Wyoming and Colorado which led him to retire in Stover, Missouri. James took great pride in teaching his four beautiful daughters how to show horses and giving them a wealth of life long skills. He loved spending time with family, friends and being together with two sisters and three brothers. He cherished his time with grandchildren and many long life friends. James was married to Sharon Herr in September of 1958 and continued to grow his family with four daughters: Teri (Mike) Branaman of Galena, Missouri, Lori (Darwin) Gjerde of McCallsburg, Iowa, Lisa (Dennis) Gjerde of McCallsburg, Iowa and Tamara (Raymond) Eley of Zearing, Iowa. 007, James married Myrtie Mae Bryant in Missouri. He is survived by his four daughters, his wife Mae, 13 grandchildren - Rachel (Herm) Eickert, Nicholas Cornelison, Jordan and Jared Fisher, Tanya (Jesse) Watters, Shawn (Jessica) Gjerde, James Gjerde, Ryan (Jaime) Gjerde, Derek (Jessie) Gjerde, Tiffany (Matthew) Peterson, Trevor, Ashlyn and Parker Eley and fourteen great grandchildren and two step sons, Timothy and William. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 30th at 10:30 A.M., Clemons United Church of Christ. Burial will follow the service at the Clemons Cemetery with a luncheon in the church basement immediately afterwards. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been set up in memory of James Bartine at VisionBank, 104 Chestnut St, Ames, IA 50010.
