Ted D. Wiggins, 86, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. A celebration of Ted's life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, July 28, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, where a 6:45 P.M. Masonic Service will be held. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa, with military honors. Theodore Dale Wiggins was born on May 13, 1931 in Lawrence, Kansas to Theodore Roosevelt and Ruby May (Surface) Wiggins. He grew up in Kansas and graduated from Lawrence High School. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict earning an honorable discharge. He married Patricia Ann "Pat" Thomas on April 24, 1954 in Lawrence, Kansas. To this union five children were born: Lori Ann, Terri, Mark, Chris and Sheryl. Ted was owner and operator of the Spragueville Stockyards for many years and also a self-employed Real Estate Broker. r. He also was a member of the Maquoketa VFW Post #3633 O'Connor-Regenwether, the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75, the Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa. Ted enjoyed woodworking and was a craftsman, gardening and spending time with his family. Those left to honor Ted's memory include his children, Terri Notz of Lee's Summit, MO, Mark (Brenda) Wiggins of Maquoketa, IA, Chris (Lisa) Wiggins of Gainsboro, TN, and Sheryl Wiggins of Lawrence, KS; 6 grandchildren, Josh (Jamie) Wiggins of Hugo, MN, Jayson (Ashley) Wiggins of Maquoketa, IA, Jesse Notz of Denver, CO, Rudy Notz of Denver, CO, Heather Notz of Kansas City, MO, and Tanya Whitmer of Carthage, TN; 10 great-grandchildren, Madyson, Justin and Ellie Wiggins, Jayley and Kiyley Wiggins, Jonas and Zoe Godwin, Jacob and Genevieve Notz, and Geremiah Whitmer; and sisters Josephine Philips of Olive Hill, KY, and Roney Slane of Wichita, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Pat on October 24, 2005, a daughter Lori Ann, and a brother Edsel. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Ted D.
