Arend Dean deBoer was born on February 19, 1953 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Herbert and Luella (Pruismann) deBoer. He lived his youth in Little Rock, Iowa where he attended school and graduated from high school.
He married Judy Ann Kramer of Adrian, Minnesota on February 22, 1977 at the First Baptist Church in George, Iowa. They lived and farmed in rural George, Iowa. In 2008 they divorced.

. He was a complex man. He believed everyone needed to deliver on a hard days work. He loved to debate with a strong adversary. He had a creative mind and could sometimes take that to the extreme. He was fiercely loyal to those he valued as friends.
Arend passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at his home in rural George.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Joni Ann (Michael) Schleisman of Emmetsburg, IA, Stanley Dean (Crystal) deBoer of Little Rock, IA, Arend John (Reka Jo) deBoer of Sheldon, IA, Kenny George deBoer of Little Rock, IA, Emily Lu (Chris) Eklund of Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren; fiancée, Kathleen Vande Hoef of Sibley, IA; one brother, Robert (Flo) deBoer of Little Rock, IA; two sisters, Ellen (Larry) Engelmann of Miller, SD, Ruth (Allen) Jacobs of Garden Valley, ID.
He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Brenna Engelmann.
