Harold Clayton Anderson

Harold Clayton Anderson passed away in Englewood, Florida on August 25, 2017. He was born in Wood River, Illinois on September 24, 1919. He, five brothers and one sister grew up on a farm near Windsor, MO. He was drafted into WWII, in the Army on July 9, 1941. He proudly served from 1941 to 1945. He married Phyllis E. Walsh, from Albany, NY in 1945. They moved to Miami where he took a job as a linotype operator. Moving to Alexandria, Virginia in 1956, he took a job with the Government Printing Office. From there he went on to a successful career as an editor in the U.S. Supreme Court and for U.S. Senator Abe Ribacoff. He retired from Government work in 1979 with a Federal Register written send off from Sen. Ribacoff. After retirement he moved to Englewood, Florida where he enjoyed the company of his many friends, while playing golf, pool and doing yoga. Preceding Harold in death were his wife Phyllis, mother Cora , father Edward, stepmother Ruth , sister Mary and brothers John, Thomas, Ronald and Roy. Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood. Inurnment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post #113, 3436 Indiana Road, Rotonda West, FL 33947.
