In the late 60s, she worked in the silver department for Woodward and Lothrup Department Store. Later she obtained her real estate license and worked for Shannon and Luchs. The family was active in church and Ann served as deaconess, elder, trustee and president of the women's circle. A "joyful Christian," she believed strongly in the power of prayer. She delighted in babies and children and believed that the most important job was the raising of a child. Ann loved her grandchildren and was active in their lives. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, travel, art museums and theatre.

Her husband "Cappy" passed in 2008. They were married 59 years. Several years later, Ann moved to Laurel to be close to her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She chose to reside at Comfort Care, where she enjoyed the residents and staff, and for one special year, her son-in-law's mother, Dorothy Nowicki. She was often seen at the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, First-Trinity Presbyterian Church and the Laurel Little Theatre accompanied by her daughter, or watching her on stage. Ann was known for her sweet constant smile, her listening ear and her kind heart. Friendship was very important to her, and her circle included young and old.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."

Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Cappiello Nowicki, son-in-law Dr. Steven Nowicki and grandchildren Tristan and Samantha, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her 3 siblings.

Many thanks to the staff at Comfort Care for creating a home away from home for her. Also the staff at SCRMC.

There will be a memorial service on Monday September 18 at 6 pm, with visitation at 5:15 at First-Trinity Presbyterian Church in Laurel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art, The Laurel Little Theatre, National City Christian Church, Washington DC or First-Trinity in Laurel.
