Dorothy Mae Duerst

Dorothy Mae Duerst, age 79, of Sun Prairie, entered into eternal peace on Friday, September 1, 2017. She was born on January 28, 1938, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Blascka) Suchomel. Dorothy was united in marriage to Maynard Duerst on April 21, 1978. Dorothy volunteered for the Sun Prairie EMS for several years. Some of Dorothy's favorite pastimes were cooking and staying organized. She will always be remembered as being a wonderful mom, grandmother and great- grandmother. Her family will always cherish her kind heart and kindred spirit. Dorothy is survived by her children; David Vernig of Stoughton, Daniel Vernig of Delano, MN., Debbie (Chuck) Porter of Sun Prairie and Steve (Carol) Vernig of Sun Prairie; and brother Robert Sucholmel. Also left to cherish her memories are numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband Maynard; sisters Helen, Ruth and Ethel; and her brother Edward Suchomel, Jr. Funeral service will be held at Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, 702 North Street, Sun Prairie on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Brad Matter officiating.
