Bonnie Jeannette Luko Modrell September 22, 1933 ~ September 2, 2017 Bonnie was the daughter of John Lambert Luko and Aurvilla Ethel Bales, born in Davis County, Iowa. Bonnie graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1951 and she married Michael Gilmer Modrell in Bloomfield on October 15, 1952. She was a loving, kind-hearted person who grew up on her family farm into a wonderful caring and compassionate lady. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael David Modrell, brother-in-law Richard Carothers, and close members of her husband's family and several friends. During her career, Bonnie worked for various medical and dental offices, Burlington Medical Center and retired from Burlington Oral Surgeons. Bonnie was a one of a kind, special person. She knew no stranger and would help anyone in need. She loved helping others and was a very giving and generous person. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, served on the Mission board, helped in Vacation Bible School and was very active in her small group, her church and multiple other community and civic organizations and clubs over the years. Bonnie is survived by her remaining children, John Eric Modrell (Liz) and Michelle Jeannette Modrell Kelman; her brothers, Harold (Rex) Luko (Myrna) and John (JD) Luko; her sister, Helen Rose Carothers; her grandchildren, Joe Modrell, Jacque Wagner (Randy), Jane Inghram (Quinton) and Sierra Kelman; great grandchildren, Gabby, Fischer, Peyton, Audrey, Conner, Alivia, Dylan, Ayden and Eli; and one great-great grandchild, Axl James; her nephews, David Carothers (Carol) and Jarred Luko; her nieces, Beth Bennett and Sarah Luko; her great nephews, Josh Bennett and Matt Carothers; her great niece, Samantha Carothers; her great-great nephew, Vincent Johnson and many other extended cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service for Bonnie will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 7th at the First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Terry Vance will officiate. Interment will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Bloomfield, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6th at the First Church of the Nazarene where the family will receive friends. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the First Church of the Nazarene for Nazarene Missions International.
