Wanda G. Scheetz

Wanda Gayle Scheetz, 85, of Carthage, Illinois passed away at 6:45 AM Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Maple Grove at Hancock Village, Carthage, Illinois. Wanda was born at the family farm at Ferris, Illinois, May 14, 1932, the daughter of Glen Thornber and Gayle Edith Sherman Neff. She was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Arthur Leroy "Dick" Scheetz on August 24, 1952, at Carthage, Illinois. He survives. She was a member of Carthage United Methodist Church and The National Appaloosa Horse Association. In addition to horses, her interests included needlepoint, sewing, and reading. She is survived by her husband, Leroy "Dick" Scheetz; one daughter, Vicki (Jim) Hardy, and two sons, Rex (Susan) Scheetz and Scott Scheetz, all of Carthage; grandchildren Brooke Flesner, Taylor Hardy, Nathaniel Hardy, Alan Scheetz, Michelle Reynolds, Emily Tweedy, and Hugh Tweedy; and ten great grandchildren; a brother, Estel (Cecel) Neff of Nauvoo, Illinois and two sisters-in law Martha Schilling and Jean Vaughn. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2017, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage, Illinois. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 6, at Thornber Cemetery at Powellton, Illinois, followed by a luncheon for family and friends at Carthage United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested for Thornber Cemetery or Carthage United Methodist Church.
