Altemeier, Norman

Norman Eugene Altemeier passed away in his sleep on September 19th 2017. He was born February 16, 1938 to William and Daisy Altemeier. Norman grew up working on his dad's farms and graduated high school from Madrid class of 1956. He worked for Western Electric as a Telecommunications Engineer starting in 1956 and retiring in 1986. He later worked eight years at each of the local hospitals in Des Moines. He loved old cars and was active in the Pontiac Oakland Club of America. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Daisy Altemeier, wife Janice Altemeier, brother Clarence Altemeier and sister Wilma Jean Olson. He is survived by sister Grace Brechtel, sons Kent (Lorie) and Todd (Tina) Altemeier, and six grandchildren, Elizabeth (Brady) Huddleston, Taylor and Christopher Altemeier; Kyleigh, Ramsey and Jordan Durst. Visitation and services will be at Iles Westover Chapel on Friday, September 22, 2017. Visitation from 1-3pm, service from 3-4pm. Private burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
