Latrelle Delton Lyon passed away on Thursday, September 21st after a long illness.

He was born on December 13, 1932 at Shady Grove in Laurel.

Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 23rd at Memory Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 12 noon at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 15 North, Laurel.

He is survived by his wife, Mamie Lou Hunt Lyon; daughter, Kimberly Lyon Musgrove; son, Timothy Delton Lyon; sister, Doyleen Lyon Higginbotham (Bob); sisters-in-law, Betty Ann Lyon and Betty Jean Lyon; and grandchildren, Hayden Timothy, Maggie Grace and Brandon Wooley.

Mr. Lyon graduated from USM with a B.A., B.S. and Master degree in Education.

He taught science at Murrah High School in Jackson. He always said his students were the best ever. He did heart research at UMC under Dr. Love.

He enjoyed most of all calling on doctors and nurses and never met a doctor or nurse he didn't like.

He served in the U. S. Army and National Guard during the Korean Conflict as a Sgt. 1st Class, 101st Airborne Div, 8th Infantry Div.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Doyle Lyon and Maggie Lucille Welborn Lyon; son, Sidney Freeman Lyon; brothers, Kerry Neil Lyon and Sidney Winston Lyon.

Pallbearers will be Hayden Lyon, Mark Lyon, Stan Lyon, Neil Lyon, Bobby Higginbotham, and Steve Higginbotham. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Lyon and Greg Welborn.
