William K. "Bill" Goodman, 91, of rural Rose Hill, died Thursday, September 21, 2017, at his home. He was born November 2, 1925, in Mahaska County the son of Ralph and Ada (Dale) Goodman. He attended school in Mahaska County. Following school, he served in the Merchant Marines. On November 24, 1948, he was united in marriage to Dolores LaForce in Oskaloosa. Bill farmed in the Rose Hill area his entire life. He was an active member of the First Christian Church in Oskaloosa. He enjoyed going on tractor rides, pitching horseshoes, and bowling. He also enjoyed the company of his dogs over the years especially, Coco, Sam, and Buster. He delighted in spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

His family includes his wife of over 68 years Dolores Goodman of rural Rose Hill; three children, Cheryl (David) Staley of Bloomfield, Steven (Karen) Goodman of Rose Hill, and Ronald Goodman of Rose Hill; two grandchildren, Shawn David Goodman and James Hockrein; a great grandson, Jace...[more]

odman; four step grandchildren, April (D.J.) Davis, Wendy (Terry) Fogle, Jeff Staley, and Justin Staley; a brother, Robert Goodman of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; a sister-in-law (Rex's widow), Donna Goodman of rural Rose Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Max Goodman, Jack Goodman, and Rex Goodman; and five sisters, Mildred Stek, Harriet Engleter, Virgene "Gene" Heming, Betty Culver, and Donna Brown.

Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. in the Wymore Cemetery northeast of Oskaloosa with Reverend Robert Goodrich and Reverend Molly Goodrich officiating. A procession will form at the Bates Funeral Chapel at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday for those wishing to go to the ceremony. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. As was Bill's wish, no visitation is planned.
