y newspaper called the Lynbrook News in Long Island, New York. Upon moving to South Florida in 1967, he and wife Joyce opened Mainstreet Printers in Pompano Beach. John Gaudiosi began his law practice in 1973 in Broward County. His law office on Federal Highway in Pompano Beach was the center of his life for over 40 years. He was a lawyer in private practice until being elected to serve as a Broward County Court Judge in 1988. The Honorable Judge John Gaudiosi served until 1997 primarily in the North Satellite Courthouse. During this time he also served as a Hearing Officer for the Florida Bar and as an adjunct Professor of Law at Nova University. Upon retirement from the bench he returned to private practice working for another dozen years. This included work as a mediator, pro-bono work for not-for-profit corporations, and traffic ticket defense. He proudly served the community in many ways, including: Alzheimer's Fund-Raising chairman, N.E. Alzheimer's Day Care Center Board of Directors, American Legion, Boy's Clubs of Broward County S.W. Unit Board of Directors, Broward County Charter Review Committee, B.P.O. Elks, Central Broward Optimist Club, Coalition of Civic Assoc. Presidents, Columbus Civic Club, Crystal Lake Civic League President, Italian-American Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees Criminal Justice Committee Chairman, Kiwanis Club President, Knights of Pythias, Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce, United Veterans of America deputy counsel, founding director of NANAY (National Alliance to Nurture the Aged and Youth), Director and past president of the Philippine American Association of South Florida, board member and legal counsel for Philippine American Federation of South Florida, John was a recreational airplane pilot of single and multi-engine, land & sea planes. He enjoyed road trips and back roads, was able to travel abroad many times for business and pleasure, and later in life cruises provided much needed get-aways. John Gaudiosi is survived by his daughters, Marlies Bisso (Alvin) of Hauppauge, NY, Elisa Gaudiosi of Lighthouse Point, and Christine Szesnat (Jay) of Deerfield Beach; his grandchildren Marlies O'Connor, Mark Bisso, Erik Bisso, John Garrett Gaudiosi, Michele Garrett Matros, Christine Garrett, Gabriella Szesnat, and Josefina Trevino; His great-grandchildren Angelina Garrett Gaudiosi, Nikki Garrett Gaudiosi, Giuseppe Garrett Gaudiosi, Eliana Garrett Gaudiosi, Gabriel Matros, Lydia O'Connor, Jude O'Connor, Luke Bisso, Emily Bisso, Cal Bisso, Garrett Bisso, Angelina Peraza, and Grier Stewart; Sister, Flora McCarthy of Greenlawn, NY; nephews Edward McCarthy of Manhattan, NY, Richard McCarthy (Betty) of Westchester, NY, and niece Diane Taylor (Tom) of Horseheads, NY; cousins Dr. Richard Cavallaro (Glenda) of New London, New Hampshire, Ina Claire Cavallaro of Estero, FL, Louise Sikorski of Westhampton, NY, and Jimmy Luotto of Fair Oaks, CA, He is predeceased by his parents, his beloved son John Garrett; his cousins whom he treasured Mario DiDiego, Eugene Luotto, Paul Luotto, Charles Lombardo, Jimmy Lombardo, Flora Davis, and Dr. Anne Anastasi; a host of friends; and his two ex-wives Carla (Suerig), and Joyce (Schmucker). A Memorial Gathering will be held 6-8pm on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services 4650 N Federal Hwy, Lighthouse Point, FL. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 9:30am at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church 380 S Federal Hwy, Deerfield Beach, FL.
