Virgil Fred Bahlmann, age 80, of Clermont and formerly of Waterloo, died at Good Samaritan Nursing Center in West Union on Saturday, September 23, 2017.
He was born on November 18, 1936 in Frederika Township in Bremer County; the son of Herman and Helen Bergman Bahlmann. Virgil served in the U.S. Marines.
He married Wilma Mudderman on May 4, 1958 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Virgil worked at Briggs Transportation for 11 years; and for Metropolitan Transit Authority (MET) for 18 years, he retired in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma of Clermont; two sons, Terry Bahlmann and his wife, Jan, of Marshall, Minnesota and Michael Bahlmann and his significant other, Sharon Stone, of Franklin, Wisconsin; a daughter, Diane Carman of Howell, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Allison Bass and her husband, Kent, Dani Frederickson and her husband, Jay, Brad Bahlmann, Brock Bahlmann, Bryce Bahlmann, Amanda Carman, and Alyssa Carman; two great grandchildren, Brayden Bass and Harper Bass; and a sister, LaDonna Lampe.
