Charles A. Best

Charles Alonzo Best, 77, of Keokuk, passed away at 6:50 PM Friday, September 29, 2017, at Lexington Square in Keokuk. Charles was born September 23, 1940, in Argyle, Iowa, the son of John E. and Mary Kay Dunn Best, Sr. He was united in marriage To Patsy Ruth Stark on June 17, 1963, in Keokuk, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 19, 2003. He had lived in the Argyle and Keokuk area most of his life. He had worked in production for Decker Manufacturing and for Scotts Company, retiring in 2007. He loved fishing, playing cards, and camping. In his last years he enjoyed sharing joy and laughter with the residents and staff at Lexington Square. He is survived by a daughter, Audrey Burgess, of Kahoka, Missouri; three sons, Greg (Sheila) Stark, Terry (Brenda) Best, and Dennis Best, all of Keokuk; three sisters and a brother. He was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who survive. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Danny Stark and Charles Best Jr.; and six brothers and sisters.
