Maxine "Mickie" Mulligan

Maxine Kay "Mickie" Mulligan was born August 26, 1935, in Algona, daughter of Chester Arthur and Mary (Carroll) Penton. She grew up in St. Benedict graduating from Lu Verne High School. Mickie was married to Kenneth Mulligan on February 21, 1955, at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Mickie and Kenny were blessed with six children, Vickie, Steve, Kelly, Dan, Nancy, and Julie. They operated Mulligan Insurance and Real Estate together for many years. Kenny often affectionately referred to Mickie as "the secretary". They enjoyed traveling together and spending their winters in Arizona. They proudly served as Grand Marshals in the 2012 Algona St. Patrick's Day Parade. Mickie loved being with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church being active in the Altar Society, she was a member of the Red Hats and the Kitchen Klatter Band. Maxine K. Mulligan died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Hawkeye Care Center, Bancroft at the age of 82. She had been a resident there since 2014.
