Dorothy Simpson

Dorthy June Simpson was born April 4, 1931, at Algona, Iowa, to William and Velma (Kelso) Patton. Dorthy was schooled through the 3rd grade in Nebraska, and then the family moved to Whittemore. Dorthy was a graduate of Algona High School in 1949. On November 5, 1950, she was united in marriage to Richard A. (Dick) Simpson in Algona. Dorthy was a housewife, later working for Pioneer Hi-Bred International and KLGA radio for 24 years. She and her husband Dick were long-time promoters for several I.M.C.A. race tracks in northern Iowa. Dorthy became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona in June, 2008, and died there on Tuesday afternoon, December 7, 2010, at the age of 79. Survivors include her children, Jane and husband Michael Lenz of Nicholson, PA; Jerry Simpson of Algona; Les Simpson and wife Leah of LuVerne, Iowa; Chuck Simpson of Algona; Dean Simpson and wife Shari of Algona; and Roger Simpson and wife Roxie of Algona.
