Jerry Ann Strothman

Jerry Ann Strothman, 70, of New London, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Henry County Health Center, Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Strothman was born September 13, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Lyle George and Evelyn Rose Gregory Edleman. On August 27, 1961 she married John W. Strothman in Clinton. She was a Clinton High School graduate and a 1962 Parsons College graduate. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Strothman taught school in Mediapolis in the fall of 1962, and then taught kindergarten and third grade at New London from 1963 until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of DAR, Retired Teachers Association, and Farm Bureau Women, and had been a 4-H leader. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, taking pictures, decorating, Christmas, and reading. She loved her family and her grandkids. She is survived by her husband; one son, Eric (Kim) Strothman of New London; one daughter, Molly (Jay) Horton of Ames; two grandchildren; two brothers, Richard L. (Judy) Edleman of Sun City, Arizona, and Bruce Edleman of Camanche, Iowa; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Neil William. AM, Thursday, January 27 at Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Jerry VanHooser will officiate. Burial will be in Burge Cemetery, New London. Visitation will begin after noon on Wednesday, January 26 at Elliott Chapel, New London with the family receiving friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial has been established and will be determined at a later date.
